Maringá Brasil – 709 miles

Maringa has a population of 350,000 with a metro area population of 600,000.

Today I crossed the Tropic of Capricorn. It is the southernmost latitude where the Sun can be directly overhead.

I used to be afraid of the imaginary lion running around the earth, but I am now over it.

and visited the tallest cathedral in South America

Virtually all of Maringá’s streets are lined with trees, this is how the city was planned.

On another planning note, Maringá’s traffic lights are rather interesting: the red light starts with a red ball on top which then drops down every so many seconds. When it hits the bottom it changes to green, which changes the light to a green ball on top which goes down and so the cycle continues

I took a helicopter ride over and through the city…
